Have a Heart for our Homeless Furry Friends

We never knew rescue work could be so heart breaking. When we started to help, we were so ignorant of what can happen to our furry friends. We were so inexperience as we only have our pets to care for previously. Our pets normally do not give us much problems in terms of health. Even if they do, we could take care of them well as they are always by our side. Its not so for our homeless furry friends. They are exposed to so much of uncertainties and external treats which come charging at them with no mercy.

There are times when we feel like giving up, but, if we do there will be less people to care for them.Looking at them again, we need to carry on….

DSC00064Our beloved and playful Marisa still in the vet could not even lift up her head to eat. She has severe tick fever which we don’t even realized until she refused to eat completely and collapsed while standing.

P1010001

ET passed away on Friday evening. She refused to eat, tested distemper negative no bloody stool but vomited slight blood before she left us. We suspect that she could be poisoned.May she rest in peace.

P5300106

Miraculously Ah Boy is running around .He has put on weight. We thought he left us one morning when we could not find him for a day. He was skin and bones then. Aunty Kiew has been giving him massage whenever possible. We have been giving him all we could think of to boost his immunity .

P4260367Dangdut looking helplessly at her mother Ah Wong crying in pain.

We are clueless as to why Dangdut left us. She was well but apparently she has parvo. Yes, she is more than 2years old and yet she still have parvo. May she and Ah Wong rest in peace.

We just pray we will not learn the hard way at our furry friends expense. These furry friends have such a short life span here and yet they have to endure with so much unfriendly factors against them.

Please pray that all homeless furry friends will not suffer, send positive vibes for those who are not well.

When It’s Time to Say Goodbye

Baby ET

Someone abandoned ET when she was a lil pup & left her with Aunty Kiew.
Aunty Kiew renamed her ET as she had relatively big belly which resembled the look of an ET (Alien).

Sending ET off for cremation… =(

Dear ET,

We really hope you had a good time with us. We hope you enjoyed the company of all other puppies at the shed and we are sure all other puppies loved playing with you.

We still remember you being a big bully & greedy and always finished the puppy’s food.
We still remember you hid under the shelf in the puppy shed during thunderstorm.
We still remember how you loved playing with the puppies as we know you were very much a puppy at heart.

“There are things that we don’t want to happen but have to accept,
things we don’t want to know but have to learn,
and those we can’t live without but have to let go.”

Good bye dear ET. Maybe part of loving is learning to let go. We love you loads but we really, really not willing to let you go. We know you gonna have a blast over the rainbow bridge! Take care!

XoXo,
Aunties

Jilly went home with Mea

Image009 This is Natasha Mea. Isn’t she pretty?

She has this bonding with animals. She played, patted and hugged all our doggies in the shed when she came last Sunday and finally Jilly was chosen by her.

Mae feeling happy and pleased with clueless Jilly renamed Whitney going home.

Email from Mae’s daddy, Kavin,

Uh huh, yes, we renamed her Whitney. She still doesn’t realize it’s her name but of course, it’s been only 2 days

Some updates…

1) Her stool is still mushy but there this morning’s had more solid portions so it looks like stool-wise, she’s improving.

2) Yes, she whines whenever she thinks she’s alone. We’re having her sleep with us in our bedroom and she does want attention in the wee hours of the morning.

3) My daughter Mea is quite affectionate with Whitney so that’s pretty great too.(We can see that when she was in the shed)

Do feel free to drop by for a visit. Preferably on the weekends, late mornings or early noon.

Thanks Kavin , for the updates and for giving Whitney a chance to be loved, cared and a home.Adopting  a puppy is like having a new baby in the family. We need to give her time to adjust in her new home and to understand that you all are her new family members now. Off course your family too need to adjust your daily routines  with a new family member otherwise having a new puppy will be a chore.

Fosterer Needed Urgently!

A few of our dogs just recovered from illness needs fosterers!

1. BahBah a.k.a. Starry

DSC01734DSC01731

DSC01738

Look at his huge bedsore on the left shoulder & how skinny he is! All he needs is someone willing to spend time & patience to clean his wound daily and give him so TLC (tender loving care).

Don’t let his big size fools you! He is extremely tame and gentle. Not to mention, very very handsome too.

2. Marisa a.k.a. Lydia

DSC01725Our pretty ambassador, Marisa has been very ill and weak due to tick fever. Get well soon, Marisa!  We really do not mind if you are as sakai as before. Yes, we are looking forward to your sakai-ness.  =)

She is also looking for a fosterer - a clean environment and loving caretaker.

3. Handsome Chap at the vet

DSC00056

DSC00055

We met this boy at the vet and he is about to be put to sleep. He has been abandoned and still could not find a loving home. Do you think he deserve to be put to sleep?

Please contact us if you are willing to provide foster home to any of these dogs. We are 101% sure that none of them deserve to be put to sleep and they are all very adorable dogs if you make rooms for them in your heart!

GuessWho?? (Answer)

No correct guess so far, not even those who had fostered this cutie before!!!

Prettie Kikie has cute big ears (pics taken in May 2010, April 2010)

The first few nights when Kikie went home with Amie

Lil Kikie sleeping soundly right after drinking milk-milk

Yipee! She is our beloved Defny, now renamed Kikie.

Read here about Kikie adopted by Amie in March 2010.

Kikie was quite a handful for the first few weeks being with Amie. She was really a cry baby. She cried for the whole night whenever Amie put her in a playpen at night.  She cried every night, nonstop, for a week. She is quite a persistent cry baby. Amie then resort to leash her during sleeping time till she is fully toilet-trained.

To be frank, Amie almost wanted to give up on Kikie  & return her to us after she continuously crying for a week. One fine morning, Amie hold Kikie and talked to her, asked what else she wants with loads of frustration. Amie burst into tears and really too “sayang” to return Kikie. And guess what?

Dogs just know how to look into our eyes and understand us.  From then on, she is behaving better and adapting well. Amie bought her tones of toys to accompany her. This nottie Kikie is a tough and fierce girl as she even barks at Amie’s another Cocker spaniel who is 10 times bigger than her a week after being adopted.

Updates from Amie in April 2010 (A month after adopted Kikie):
"My cocker is very Chin Chai, even Kikie took over her food, she just let it be. And she play along well with the schnauzer. So pretty much okay lar. And don’t know why her ears now became pointy. It all started last week. She used to have droopy ears. she looks like a chihuahua mixed now.”

Munchy & Scrabby

MunchyScrabbie
The first few days Munchy & Scrabby arrived at the shed.

MUNCHY

Munchy basking under the sun before being adopted.

Munchy was adopted by Nara during the adoption drive in March 2010. He is now a happy resident of PJ, with MBPJ license of course!

Munchy has grown much  handsome and bigger now!
Guess what? He is approximately 15kgs at 8 months old.

His no. 26A is big enough to fit both of us.

DSC01754 DSC01751 DSC01750

His tag actually writes: My name is MUNCHY

The adopter, Nara told me that his maid is very very attached to Munchy, and so does Munchy. He stays next to her when she is doing her chores. She spends time talk to him whenever she is free. So you won't be surprised to find that Munchy actually understands Indonesian. Munchy used to sleep outside the maid’s room. The maid got a lil’ upset when Munchy moved his new no. 26A.

We are so glad that you have such a good boss & kakak!

Scrabby a.k.a. Corby

The day Bubbly Ellen bringing Corby home
Look at the way she carried Corby like a small baby

Yipee! Corby has recovered from her tick fever & anemia.
She has now put on so much weight since she is on special diet. Ellen cooks special meal for Corby whenever she has time.

P1030064DSC01760
Sorry for the blurred pix. This is Corby enjoying her belly rub.

P1030070
Corby shows us her comfy bed too! ^

Corby like most of the teething puppies loves chewing shoes as well. Ellen is being so patient with her.  So she gives Corby more rawhides and also find a wonderful explanation for her chewing habit. Ellen said because Corby is very attached to her and Corby certainly misses her when she been away to work. Thus Corby chews her shoes because it has Ellen’s scent on it. So what she does now is to keep her occupied with toys and rawhides, and of course, keep all her shoes away.

We googled up on the doggies’ chewing behavior. Click here for more info.
Dogs never chew out of spite. This is a grave misunderstanding of dog behavior. As a matter of fact, if they are feeling insecure and/or they miss you they might want to chew your shoe because it has your scent on it. No malice there, just an attempt to be close to you. In fact, especially if you are angry with them, chewing an item of yours is actually an attempt to make things better(not spite). I know it works the opposite, BUT the dog does NOT know that. If it were human, yes it could be spite; but the canine species is incapable of that human emotion.”

Other article about puppy chewing & destructive behavior:

Puppy chewing, ripping, shredding, tearing things up and
generally destroying stuff is as normal for dogs as tail-wagging. If you have a dog, expect chewing. Provide him with his own toys and teach him to use them or he will destructively chew anything available, such as your furniture, carpet, clothing or shoes.
Dogs do not chew and destroy your house and belongings because they are angry, jealous or spiteful. They do it because they are dogs. They may be lonely, bored, frustrated or anxious, but they are not malicious, vindictive or petty. Active dogs can become restless when
left alone for long periods. If you always come home at a certain time and you are late, your dog may become anxious. Your dog does not punish you for being late by destructive chewing. The dogs' chewing is a form of occupational therapy to relieve stress and release energy. If you come home and find that your dog has destroyed something, do not punish the dog.

Passive Training to Prevent Chewing Problems
Until your dog can be trusted not to destroy your home and yard, do not give him free, unsupervised run of your house. Give him a pleasant area or room of his own where he can enjoy himself and relax when you are not home or are unable to supervise him. Literally litter his room with a wide variety of toys. Since he will have no other choice of things to chew, he will learn to chew and play with his own toys. Make the toys enticing. Soak rawhide and long marrow bones in different flavored soups. Let them dry and give a different flavor to the dog each time you leave him alone. Sterilized marrow bones and Kong toys can be stuffed with liver treats or cheese. The dog will be entertained for hours trying to extricate the treats from the toy. Bury these toys in the dog's
digging pit.
